Er trat mit Jazz, Pop, Rock'n'Roll, Folk, Swing und Country-Musik auf. Er begann seine Karriere als Songwriter für Connie Francis. Seine erste Millionensingle, "Splish Splash", nahm er 1958 auf. Es folgten "Dream Lover", "Mack the Knife" und "Beyond the Sea", die ihm weltweiten Ruhm einbrachten. 1962 gewann er einen Golden Globe Award für seinen ersten Film, Come September, in dem seine erste Frau, die Schauspielerin Sandra Dee, mitspielte. |
