Beschreibung | Matthew Edward Gonzalez (* 4. Juni 1965) ist ein US-amerikanischer Politiker, Rechtsanwalt und Aktivist. Er war von 2001 bis 2005 Mitglied des San Francisco Board of Supervisors und dessen Präsident. Im Jahr 2003 verlor Gonzalez, der als Kandidat der Green Party antrat, die Wahl zum Bürgermeister von San Francisco gegen den Demokraten Gavin Newsom. Bei der Präsidentschaftswahl 2008 kandidierte Gonzalez als Vize-Präsident im Team des Kandidaten Ralph Nader. Stand 2020 ist er als Chefjurist beim San Francisco Public Defender's Office tätig. |
Some types of environmental restoration projects are well-known restored wetlands, for instance, or coal mine reclamation projects. Recently though, larger dam removal projects have started, a number of them in Washington state.
A fascinating challenge facing today's environmental movement is how to best approach the reversal of past decisions that altered once-pristine environmental spaces for the sake of urgent man-made needs.
