Beschreibung | Iosif Aleksandrowitsch Brodsky (/ˈbrɒdski/; russisch: Иосиф Александрович Бродский [ɪˈosʲɪf ɐlʲɪˈksandrəvʲɪtɕ ˈbrotskʲɪj]; 24. Mai 1940 - 28. Januar 1996) war ein russischer und amerikanischer Dichter und Essayist. Brodsky wurde 1940 in Leningrad (heute Sankt Petersburg), UdSSR, geboren. Er geriet in Konflikt mit den sowjetischen Behörden und wurde 1972 aus der Sowjetunion ausgewiesen (mit der dringenden Empfehlung, auszuwandern), wo er sich mit Hilfe von W. H. Auden und anderen Unterstützern in den Vereinigten Staaten niederließ. Er lehrte danach am Mount Holyoke College und an Universitäten wie Yale, Columbia, Cambridge und Michigan. |
