Beschreibung | John Peter Berger (/ˈbɜːdʒə/; 5. November 1926 – 2. Januar 2017) war ein englischer Kunstkritiker, Schriftsteller, Maler und Dichter. Sein Roman G gewann den Booker-Preis 1972, und sein Essay zur Kunstkritik Ways of Seeing, der als Begleitung zur gleichnamigen BBC-Fernsehserie entstand, erlangte große Bedeutung. Er lebte über fünfzig Jahre in Frankreich. |
Compassion has no place in the natural order of the world which operates on the basis of necessity. Compassion opposes this order and is therefore best thought of as being in some way supernatural.
