Juni 1882) war ein italienischer General, Patriot, Revolutionär und Republikaner. Er trug zur Einigung Italiens und zur Gründung des Königreichs Italien bei. Er gilt als einer der größten Generäle der Neuzeit und als einer der "Väter des Vaterlandes" Italiens, zusammen mit Camillo Benso, Graf von Cavour, Viktor Emanuel II. von Italien und Giuseppe Mazzini. Garibaldi wird wegen seiner militärischen Unternehmungen in Südamerika und Europa auch als "Held der zwei Welten" bezeichnet. |
