Er war langjähriger Executive Editor von Car and Driver, einer amerikanischen Automagazin. Im Jahr 1971 entwickelten Yates, sein Sohn und ein Freund gemeinsam das erste Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash (Cannonball Run). Im Jahr 2017 wurde er in die Motorsports Hall of Fame of America aufgenommen. |
