Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (/ˈroʊzəvɛlt/ ROH-zə-velt; 27. Oktober 1858 - 6. Januar 1919), oft Teddy oder mit seinen Initialen T. R. genannt, war ein amerikanischer Politiker, Staatsmann, Soldat, Naturschützer, Naturforscher, Historiker und Schriftsteller, der von 1901 bis 1909 als 26. Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten. Zuvor war er von März bis September 1901 der 25. Vizepräsident unter Präsident William McKinley und von 1899 bis 1900 Gouverneur von New York. Gouverneur von New York von 1899 bis 1900. Als er nach der Ermordung McKinleys die Präsidentschaft übernahm, wurde Roosevelt zu einem führenden Vertreter der Republikanischen Partei und zu einer treibenden Kraft in der Anti-Trust- und der progressiven Politik.
