Er ist der Sohn der Reggae-Ikone Bob Marley und Rita Marley. Bis 2002 leitete er die Familienband Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, mit der er acht Studioalben veröffentlichte. Nach der Auflösung startete Ziggy eine erfolgreiche Solokarriere und veröffentlichte acht Solo-Studioalben auf seinem eigenen Plattenlabel Tuff Gong Worldwide.
