Beschreibung | Waleed Mohammed al-Shehri (Arabic: وليد الشهري, Walīd ash-Shehrī, also transliterated as Alshehri) (December 20, 1978 – September 11, 2001) was one of five terrorist hijackers of American Airlines Flight 11, which was crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center as part of the September 11 attacks in 2001. Born in Saudi Arabia, Waleed al-Shehri had been a student until he accompanied his mentally ill brother to Medina. He later went to fight in Chechnya along with his brother Wail, but was redirected to Afghanistan, where he was recruited for the attacks. |
