He represented Distrito Nacional in Chamber of Deputies from 1998 to 2002, and served in the Senate since 2006. Pared Pérez was president of the senate twice, between 2006 and 2014, and again between 2016 and 2020. A member of the Dominican Liberation Party, he was named general-secretary in 2001. The government of the People's Republic of China awarded Pared Pérez the Order of Brilliant Star Special Grand Cordon in June 2017. |
