Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (16. Oktober 1854 - 30. November 1900) war ein irischer Dichter und Dramatiker. Nachdem er in den 1880er Jahren in verschiedenen Formen geschrieben hatte, wurde er in den frühen 1890er Jahren zu einem der beliebtesten Dramatiker in London. Am besten in Erinnerung geblieben sind seine Epigramme und Theaterstücke, sein Roman Das Bildnis des Dorian Gray und die Umstände seiner strafrechtlichen Verurteilung wegen grober Unanständigkeit bei einvernehmlichen homosexuellen Handlungen in "einem der ersten Prominentenprozesse", seiner Inhaftierung und seines frühen Todes an Meningitis im Alter von 46 Jahren.
