Morihei Ueshiba (植芝 盛平, Ueshiba Morihei, 14. Dezember 1883 - 26. April 1969) war ein japanischer Kampfsportler und Begründer der Kampfkunst des Aikido. Er wird oft als "der Gründer" Kaiso (開祖) oder Ōsensei (大先生/翁先生), "Großer Lehrer/Alter Lehrer (alt im Gegensatz zu waka (jung) sensei)" bezeichnet. Nach Ueshibas Tod wurde Aikido von seinen Schülern (von denen viele selbst bekannte Kampfsportler wurden) weiter verbreitet. Es wird heute auf der ganzen Welt praktiziert.
