Beschreibung | Addison Mitchell „Mitch“ McConnell Jr. ist ein US-amerikanischer Politiker der Republikanischen Partei. Er vertritt seit dem 3. Januar 1985 den Bundesstaat Kentucky im US-Senat und war dort von Januar 2007 bis Januar 2025 Fraktionsvorsitzender der Republikaner. McConnell ist der am längsten amtierende Anführer einer Partei in der Geschichte des US-Senats. Von 2015 bis 2021 war er Mehrheitsführer im Senat und war dort vom 20. Januar 2021 bis zum 3. Januar 2025 Minderheitsführer. Seither ist er Vorsitzender des United States Senate Committee on Rules and Administration. |
