Milan Kundera (UK: /ˈkʊndərə, ˈkʌn-/, tschechisch: [ˈmɪlan ˈkundɛra]; geboren am 1. April 1929) ist ein tschechischer Schriftsteller, der 1975 nach Frankreich ins Exil ging und 1981 die französische Staatsbürgerschaft annahm. Die tschechoslowakische Staatsbürgerschaft wurde Kundera 1979 aberkannt und 2019 wieder verliehen. Er "sieht sich als französischer Schriftsteller und besteht darauf, dass sein Werk als französische Literatur studiert und im Buchhandel als solche klassifiziert wird".
