Beschreibung | Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori (/ˌmɒntɪˈsɔːri/ MON-tiss-OR-ee, italienisch: [maˈriːa montesˈsɔːri]; 31. August 1870 - 6. Mai 1952) war eine italienische Ärztin und Pädagogin, die vor allem durch die nach ihr benannte Erziehungsphilosophie und ihre Schriften zur wissenschaftlichen Pädagogik bekannt wurde. In jungen Jahren besuchte Montessori eine technische Schule für Jungen, in der Hoffnung, Ingenieurin zu werden. Schon bald änderte sie ihre Meinung und begann ein Medizinstudium an der Sapienza-Universität in Rom. Sie war eine der ersten Frauen, die in Italien Medizin studierten und schloss 1896 mit Auszeichnung ab. Ihre Erziehungsmethode wird heute in vielen öffentlichen und privaten Schulen auf der ganzen Welt angewandt. |
