Beschreibung | Marcus Mosiah Garvey Sr. ONH (17. August 1887 - 10. Juni 1940) war ein jamaikanischer politischer Aktivist, Verleger, Journalist, Unternehmer und Redner. Er war der Gründer und erste Generalpräsident der Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL, allgemein bekannt als UNIA), mit der er sich zum provisorischen Präsidenten Afrikas erklärte. Ideologisch war er ein schwarzer Nationalist und Panafrikanist, seine Ideen wurden als Garveyismus bekannt. |
