Beschreibung | Louis Isadore Kahn (geboren als Itze-Leib Schmuilowsky; 5. März [O.S. Februar 20] 1901 - 17. März 1974) war ein in Estland geborener amerikanischer Architekt, der in Philadelphia lebte. Nachdem er in verschiedenen Funktionen für mehrere Firmen in Philadelphia gearbeitet hatte, gründete er 1935 sein eigenes Atelier. Neben seiner privaten Tätigkeit war er von 1947 bis 1957 als Designkritiker und Professor für Architektur an der Yale School of Architecture tätig. Von 1957 bis zu seinem Tod war er Professor für Architektur an der School of Design der University of Pennsylvania. |
