Beschreibung | Loretta Young (geboren als Gretchen Young; 6. Januar 1913 - 12. August 2000) war eine amerikanische Schauspielerin. Sie begann bereits als Kind und hatte von 1917 bis 1953 eine lange und abwechslungsreiche Filmkarriere. Für ihre Rolle in dem Film The Farmer's Daughter (1947) wurde sie mit dem Academy Award als beste Schauspielerin ausgezeichnet, und für ihre Rolle in Come to the Stable (1949) erhielt sie ihre zweite Oscar-Nominierung. Young wechselte zu dem relativ neuen Medium Fernsehen, wo sie von 1953 bis 1961 eine dramatische Anthologieserie, The Loretta Young Show, hatte. Die Serie wurde mit drei Emmy Awards ausgezeichnet und wurde erfolgreich im Tagesfernsehen und später in Syndication ausgestrahlt. In den 1980er Jahren kehrte Young auf den kleinen Bildschirm zurück und gewann 1986 einen Golden Globe für ihre Rolle in Christmas Eve. |
