Sein 1761 in New York veröffentlichtes Gedicht war das erste einer Person afrikanischer Abstammung in Nordamerika. Nach dieser Veröffentlichung veröffentlichte er sowohl Lyrik als auch Prosa. Daneben war er Prediger und Kaufmannsgehilfe auf Long Island, New York. |
