Beschreibung | Hosea Ballou D.D. (30. April 1771 - 7. Juni 1852) war ein amerikanischer Universalisten-Geistlicher und theologischer Schriftsteller. Ursprünglich war er Baptist und konvertierte 1789 zum Universalismus. Er predigte in einer Reihe von Städten in Vermont, New Hampshire und Massachusetts. Ab 1817 war er Pfarrer der Second Universalist Church in Boston. Er schrieb eine Reihe einflussreicher theologischer Werke sowie Hymnen, Essays und Predigten und war Herausgeber zweier universalistischer Zeitschriften. Ballou wurde als einer der Väter des amerikanischen Universalismus bezeichnet. |
