Beschreibung | John Hayden Fry (28. Februar 1929 – 17. Dezember 2019) war ein US-amerikanischer American-Football-Spieler und -Trainer. Er war von 1962 bis 1972 Head Coach am Southern Methodist University (SMU), von 1973 bis 1978 an der North Texas State University – heute bekannt als University of North Texas – und von 1979 bis 1998 an der University of Iowa. Seine Bilanz als Trainer umfasste 232 Siege, 178 Niederlagen und 10 Unentschieden. Fry spielte im Hochschulfußball an der Baylor University. Er wurde 2003 in die College Football Hall of Fame als Trainer aufgenommen. |

I wanted the players to feel like they were part of a family, to be conscious of that controlled togetherness as they made that slow entrance onto the field. It had a great psychological effect on the opposing team, too. They'd never seen anything like it.
