Beschreibung | George MacDonald (10. Dezember 1824 - 18. September 1905) war ein schottischer Schriftsteller, Dichter und christlicher Kongregationspfarrer. Er war eine Pionierfigur auf dem Gebiet der modernen Fantasy-Literatur und der Mentor seines Schriftstellerkollegen Lewis Carroll. Neben seinen Märchen verfasste MacDonald auch mehrere Werke der christlichen Theologie, darunter mehrere Predigtsammlungen. Elizabeth Yates schrieb über Sir Gibbie: "Es bewegte mich so, wie es Bücher taten, als sich als Kind die großen Tore der Literatur zu öffnen begannen und die ersten Begegnungen mit edlen Gedanken und Äußerungen unsagbar aufregend waren." |
