He was an Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Berthier from 2007 to 2008. Benjamin was first elected to the National Assembly in the 2007 election with 42% of the vote. Parti Québécois (PQ) incumbent Alexandre Bourdeau finished second with 35% of the vote. He took office on April 12, 2007 and became the Official Opposition's Shadow Minister for Culture and Communications on April 19, 2007. Before joining the ADQ and CAQ, Benjamin supported the PQ. |
