Beschreibung | Ian David Abrahams (* 15. Januar 1958) ist ein englischer Mathematiker. Er war von 2008 bis 2016 Beyer Professor für Angewandte Mathematik an der University of Manchester. Von 2014 bis 2016 war er Direktor des International Centre for Mathematical Sciences in Edinburgh. Im Oktober 2016 folgte er John Toland als Direktor des Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences und als N M Rothschild and Sons Professor für Mathematik in Cambridge. Er war von 2007 bis 2009 Präsident des Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. Im Jahr 2017 wurde ihm die IMA/LMS David Crighton Medal für Verdienste um die Mathematik verliehen. |
