He is currently the CEO of Nottingham Forest. Murphy played for D.C. United in the Eastern Conference of the US American Major League Soccer. After subsequent one and a half years playing for German 2nd Bundesliga team VfL Osnabrück and its farm team, he joined New York Cosmos in the MLS for a couple of years. After retirement, the psychology graduate Murphy went into scouting for New York Cosmos and Real Salt Lake, then becoming technical director of Real Salt Lake and D. C. United, before returning to European football as CEO of Barnsley F. C. |
