Daisaku Ikeda (池田 大作, Ikeda Daisaku, geboren am 2. Januar 1928) ist ein japanischer buddhistischer Philosoph, Erzieher, Autor und Verfechter der nuklearen Abrüstung. Er war der dritte Präsident und später Ehrenpräsident der Soka Gakkai, der größten der neuen religiösen Bewegungen Japans. Ikeda ist der Gründungspräsident der Soka Gakkai International (SGI), der weltweit größten buddhistischen Laienorganisation, die nach eigenen Angaben etwa 12 Millionen Anhänger in 192 Ländern und Gebieten hat, von denen 2012 mehr als 1,5 Millionen außerhalb Japans lebten.

The gratification of desire is not happiness.

Leadership that exploits and sacrifices young people on the altar of its goals is nothing more than raw, demonic power. Genuine leadership is found in ceaseless efforts to foster young people, to pave the way forward for them.
