Beschreibung | Clyde William Tombaugh /ˈtɒmbaʊ/ (4. Februar 1906 - 17. Januar 1997) war ein amerikanischer Astronom. Er entdeckte Pluto im Jahr 1930, das erste Objekt, das in dem später als Kuipergürtel bezeichneten Bereich entdeckt wurde. Zum Zeitpunkt seiner Entdeckung galt Pluto als Planet, wurde aber 2006 als Zwergplanet neu klassifiziert. Tombaugh entdeckte auch viele Asteroiden und rief zur ernsthaften wissenschaftlichen Erforschung unidentifizierter Flugobjekte auf. |

I think the driving thing was curiosity about the universe. That fascinated me. I didn't think anything about being famous or anything like that, I was just interested in the concepts involved.
