On television, she played Linda Williams, the stepdaughter of Danny Williams (played by Danny Thomas) in the long-running TV series The Danny Thomas Show, and Penny Robinson in the 1960s television series Lost in Space. Cartwright's most famous movie role was the part of Brigitta von Trapp in the film The Sound of Music (1965). Her older sister is actress Veronica Cartwright. |
I am kind of a private person, so I don't miss that part of show business at all. Looking back on my career in television and making a movie like 'The Sound of Music' from an adult point of view, it actually seems kind of unreal. I was involved in shows that people grew up with - that hold memories for them - and it's a cool feeling.
I hope that through my work, artists will take some chances, break some rules, and make art that comes from inside of them. I would like to be remembered as a kind person, a great Mom, and a bit unruly - in a good way!
