Beschreibung | Andrew Wegman Bird (* 11. Juli 1973) ist ein US-amerikanischer Multiinstrumentalist, Sänger und Songwriter der Indie-Rock-Szene. Seit 1996 hat er 16 Studioalben sowie mehrere Livealben und EPs veröffentlicht, die verschiedene Genres wie Swingmusik, Indie Rock und Folk umfassen. Er ist vor allem bekannt für seinen einzigartigen Violinespielstil, begleitet von Loop- und Effektpedalen, Pfeiftechniken und Gesang. In den 1990er Jahren sang und spielte er Violine in mehreren Jazzensembles, darunter Squirrel Nut Zippers und Kevin O'Donnell’s Quality Six. Anschließend gründete er sein eigenes Swingensemble, Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, das zwischen 1998 und 2001 drei Alben veröffentlichte. Weather Systems (2003) war sein erstes Soloalbum nach der Auflösung von Bowl of Fire und markierte einen Übergang von Jazzmusik hin zu Indie-Musik. |
What's cool about indie rock is that one band can do effectively the same thing as another band, and one band nails it, and the other one doesn't. I like that elusiveness.
