Albert Ellis (27. September 1913 - 24. Juli 2007) war ein amerikanischer Psychologe und Psychotherapeut, der die rational-emotive Verhaltenstherapie (REBT) begründete. Er erwarb einen MA und einen PhD in klinischer Psychologie an der Columbia University und wurde vom American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) zertifiziert. Außerdem gründete er das Albert Ellis Institute in New York City und war dessen Präsident. Er gilt allgemein als einer der Begründer des kognitiv-revolutionären Paradigmenwechsels in der Psychotherapie und als früher Befürworter und Entwickler der kognitiv-behavioralen Therapien.
