Geboren auf einem Militärstützpunkt in Deutschland und aufgewachsen in Fayetteville, North Carolina, erlangte Cole nach der Veröffentlichung seines ersten Mixtapes, The Come Up, Anfang 2007 zunächst Anerkennung als Rapper. Nachdem er 2009 bei Jay-Z's Roc Nation Imprint unterschrieben hatte, veröffentlichte er zwei weitere Mixtapes, The Warm Up (2009) und Friday Night Lights (2010), die beide von der Kritik gelobt wurden. |
Rhyme patterns are nothing without meanings to the words. A lot of rappers can do those flows, but the raps aren't really about anything - which is cool sometimes, but to have the flow and the message is one of my favorite things.
