Denis Diderot (/ˈdiːdəroʊ/; französisch: [dəni did(ə)ʁo]; 5. Oktober 1713 - 31. Juli 1784) war ein französischer Philosoph, Kunstkritiker und Schriftsteller, der vor allem als Mitbegründer, Chefredakteur und Verfasser der Enzyklopädie zusammen mit Jean le Rond d'Alembert bekannt wurde. Er war eine prominente Persönlichkeit im Zeitalter der Aufklärung.
