Beschreibung | Jean Marie Lucien Pierre Anouilh (französisch: [ʒɑ̃ anuj]; 23. Juni 1910 - 3. Oktober 1987) war ein französischer Dramatiker, dessen Karriere fünf Jahrzehnte umfasste. Obwohl sein Werk vom hohen Drama bis zur absurden Farce reichte, ist Anouilh am besten für sein Stück Antigone aus dem Jahr 1944 bekannt, eine Adaption des klassischen Dramas von Sophokles, das als Angriff auf die Vichy-Regierung von Marschall Pétain verstanden wurde. Seine Stücke sind weniger experimentell als die seiner Zeitgenossen, haben eine klar strukturierte Handlung und wortgewandte Dialoge. Anouilh, der nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zu den produktivsten Schriftstellern Frankreichs gehörte, befasst sich in vielen seiner Werke mit dem Thema der Wahrung der Integrität in einer Welt der moralischen Kompromisse. |
